The lyrics for the original theme song “Vanity Lane” were written by ElectrKPrincess and produced by Westley Steele in the fall of 2011 in a collaborative effort for the writing and production duo The Luminary Society. In February of 2013, ElectrKPrincess conceived the idea to turn the song into a full length ballet adaption. She enlisted the help of a local composer Emmanuel Maestro to present the ballet in Atlanta, Georgia. With the hope of expanding the ballet further and creating compelling music for the ballet she began to seek out classical musicians to help bring the storyline of the ballet to the national stage. Upon moving to Boston to study Dramatic Arts and Dance at Harvard University, she commissioned Gordon Williams and Jared Hettrick to compose Act I and Act II of the ballet.
Several choreographers were enlisted to create the signature choreography for the ballet. Act I consists of classical music compositions for classic ballet choreography.
The ballet’s focus is on the personal emotional and spiritual journey of ElectrKPrincess which is articulated through the music and translated through the art of dance. The conflict of negative influences regarding body image, self-love and self acceptance are the major forces of the ballet which serve as an important element to the underlying plot.
